People looking for alternative energy jobs have been boosted by the news that a wind farm in Kent is set to be expanded.Kent Online reported that Swedish firm Vattenfall is talking to The Crown Estate to increase the size of the Kentish Flats and Thanet offshore wind farms.
Ole Bigum Nielsen, head of offshore projects at Vattenfall, said that he was pleased to have reached this "important" stage in negotiations.
"The two existing projects that we own off the Kent coast are making a substantial contribution to the Kent economy and are going some way to helping deliver British climate change targets," he said, adding that the firm planned to make electricity clean by 2050.
Plans to upgrade the Thanet Offshore Wind Farm to a 300MW facility will see it become the largest in the world.
Furthermore, people looking for alternative energy jobs were told that developments in Suffolk, Cumbria and Liverpool Bay were also going to be given the go ahead.
