More than 100 construction jobs could be on their way to Essex if new proposals are given planning permission, according to Echo News.
The newspaper reports that Network Construction, one of Network Rail's biggest contractors, has filed plans to build a four-storey office facility in Rayleigh.
Head of planning for the construction company Shaun Scrutton said that the office block would become the flagship facility for the firm.
Carl Watson, chairman of Rayleigh Chamber of Trade, said: "Any new business coming into Rayleigh is obviously good news at the present time."
He added that it is great for the town that something as prestigious as the new office block, which has contemporary features like an angular glass atrium and external balconies, has been proposed.
In other construction job news, a planned development in Wales, which would see Swansea University get a completely new science campus, could create more than 11,000 jobs.
