
A vacant fire station could become a hotel and create
UK jobs if proposals to turn the Grade II-listed building into a hotel are given the all clear, according to one newspaper.
The Manchester Evening News reported on the plans for the building on London Road, Manchester, which has been on English Heritage's at-risk register for almost ten years, and stated that its owner Britannia Hotels wants to turn it into a new hotel.
According to a spokesperson for the firm developing the site is a priority, and he told the newspaper that the company wants to retain possession of the building.
A town hall spokesperson said: "The city council's position on this landmark site was made clear in the detailed report which went to our executive in December, stating that we want to secure the full and proper redevelopment of this site."
