New education jobs in Kent with Dover academy

Kent jobs in education will benefit from a new academy set to open in Dover this September.

Dover Christ Church Academy will replace Archer’s Court Maths Computing College and provide specialist education in areas such as mathematics, computing and music.

According to Kent News, the academy will have space for 950 pupils between the ages of 11 and 18. The school will also have room for 40 children with special needs at an additional unit, perfectly facilitated to accommodate them.

Funding for the academy was recently approved by the Secretary of State for Education, Ed Balls.

Dover MP Gwyn Prosser told the newspaper: “Labour’s new academies are being created all over the country and they are proving very popular with parents and pupils because they allow schools to make a fresh start.

“They attract lots of extra funding and they benefit from pulling in support and expertise from collaborating schools and sponsors.”

Prosser added that further education investment will be noticed as the government has helped with the creation of two other academies, one in Deal and another on the Duke of York’s Military School in Dover.

The new education investment is great news for jobs in the industry after government grants to more than 100 universities in the country was recently reduced by over £500 million.

Sir Alan Langlands, chief executive of Higher Education Funding Council for England (Hefce), said: “These are very modest reductions. I think it is quite likely that universities will be able to cope with these without in any way undermining the student experience.”
