Surrey jobs boost through Claygate sports clubhouse

SUBMITTED DATE: 08/04/10

A new £275,000 Claygate sports clubhouse has been given the go-ahead which could create multiple temporary Surrey jobs in construction.

According to Get Surrey, the Claygate Recreation Ground Trust (CRGT) has had plans to transform their pavilion and clubhouse into more modern buildings for several year.

Plans also included a lounge area as well as suitable space to conduct meetings.

The timber-clad 200sq-m building, which will be twice the size of the original, has received approval from Elmbridge Borough Council.

The CRGT chairman Nick Hayes told the news source: “We are absolutely delighted that Elmbridge has given us the green light. A modern facility will allow us to really increase the use of this terrific community space.

“This is a really exciting development, not only for the recreation ground but for Claygate as a whole.

“We believe the project that we are launching will create an attractive community facility for everyone in the village for many years to come.”

The clubhouse will also enhance jobs in the area and benefit the Claygate Cricket Club and Claygate Royals Football Club who mainly use the site.

The new development could take anything between nine months and a year to complete.
